In a world of bustling activities, having a weekly reset routine is essential. Resets are like little pauses that help to take a step back and rest to move forward with a sense of purpose and not feel so overwhelmed.

Weekly resets aren’t just about cleaning; they’re about creating space for what truly matters. Learn more about my approach to intentional living on the About Me page

Here are 10 self-care rituals to help kickstart your week productively without feeling crappy about yourself.

1.Clean and organize your apartment.

I know this doesn’t sound like something fun ( at least not in the beginning 😂😉)but you’ll feel so much better after decluttering. A weekly reset routine starts with a clean, organized environment.

Just imagine how satisfied you will be when you see your space organised and decluttered. Well, I know not everyone loves to clean so it’s okay to freestyle this. You can start with a timer, usually 10 minutes, and work against the time that it feels like a little game. If you can also afford to pay someone else to do it, you do just that. The point is to do things your way to help YOUR week run smoothly. I prefer to DIY it all. I recommend doing this on the weekends.

2. Plan Your Week & Set Priorities .

Scheduling your week helps reduce stress and help to keep track of important tasks and it is essential in a weekly reset routine.

It helps to use tools like Notion and Google Calendar for this exercise. Depending on your workload, it could take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to get this done. You can also get a planner to help with this if you’re more tactical and have to write on paper. I recommend Erin Condren‘s planners.

It’s best to write down all the things you gotta get done. Then, create a priority list you take on the tasks that make you a little uncomfortable and get them over with. Eat your frogs first. This to-do list will be vital in tracking what you do for the rest of the week. You can include the microtasks that will help you achieve your long-term goals. Usually, these micro-tasks help to track your progress with your goals.

If you have a goal of 20 pounds in the next 3 months, you could have it on your weekly schedule to walk or jog a few miles 3-4 times per week. This works for whatever you are trying to achieve. Scheduling them in helps to make sure you’re tackling them consistently. P.S.: This isn’t to take on more than you can handle. You’re human and should be gracious to yourself. There will be times when you don’t get to do everything and that’s fine. The key is consistency and discipline.

3. Meal prepping

Over the last few years meal prepping has become so popular featuring the little cute food containers and the aesthetic videos we all love watching on tiktok. Meal prepping saves you the stress of cooking fresh batches of food everyday. It cuts down the time invested in trying to eat healthy and helps you stay organised and on track with healthy dieting. Find healthy meal prep ideas from EatingWell, and get food storage containers from Amazon or your local supermarket. A little planning goes a long way in keeping your week productive.

4. Prep outfits for the week.

Yes, you read that right. As someone who struggled with being late sometimes because I couldn’t get my outfits to work, planning outfit ideas for the week or the day before has taken so much stress of my shoulders.

My mornings are not spent rummaging through the closet trying to find what to wear. I suggest trying out the outfit ideas before the week or the before a work day to see to make sure that your outfits fit perfectly and you are not having the emergency of trying to fix a shirt you had no idea was ripped ( we’ve all been there😆). Have fun with it, turn your favourite music and try them on , get into it , you might just find that beautiful blouse you wore once only to not find again. Yep, it’s definitely sitting in the closet. 5. Rest, Reset , go

Rest and pay attention to your surroundings. I want you to pause and pay attention. Pay attention to your loved ones. Give your mom a call and check in on her. Spend some time with your family. Ask them how they are doing, really listen to them and let them be heard. The connections around you are so vital and it’s really easy to take them for granted and be so ingrained in the hustle that lose sight of the really important things. Your family, friendships and connections.

6. A moment of silence and a prayer.

Yes, I said prayer. I am obviously Christian 😏 and I have a relationship with God. It’s okay if you don’t rock with that but I love living His truth . ( Well , now that they’re all gone😁 let’s get into it). I really recommend having your time in the word everyday and praying the scriptures.

This is so life changing and it makes you a better human being. Sit silently reading the word and listen to what God has to say to you. I recommend having a prayer journal to write scriptures down concerning your specific issue and speaking them over and over meditatively to see results. I believe you should talk to Him about how your week went, your expectations, your fears, tell God everything. He is your best friend and your LORD and you can trust him and He has amazing plans for you.

Now onto the stuff that the Pinterest and tiktok girlies can’t seem to get enough of.

7. Journaling!!!

There are tons of pretty journals online to choose from you can go with digital journals or hardcopy paper or both. Whatever that tickles your fancy is approved. I recommend starting off with gratitude and writing down all the things you are grateful for and give God thanks. Then you can write a thorough review about the highlights of your week. This being a part of your weekly reset routine, improves your mental health and keeps you on top of things.

I recommend keeping a daily journal since it’s easy to forget after a whole week but for the newbies the weekends is completely okay to start with. You make note of thoughts and feelings and get to know yourself better. And you can totally vent as well and go a little bonkers if you want. It’s your book😏 not mine ( Disclaimer:If you have issues that journaling can’t solve please get some professional help; if you know, you know)

8. Getting some Outdoor exercise.

A weekly reset routine should include movement—beyond the gym.

I know you are a gym girlie and everything but you need some sun and fresh air, Liv.Outdoor exercise like hiking, running, swimming, golfing, basically any outdoor sport would be great. I need you OUTSIDE and sweating, and enjoying the sun and the wind.Being a home buddy is great and all but we can take one day off the week and sweat outdoors for a change how about that. You never know the opportunities waiting outdoors for you . New clients , friendships, a cute little cat that needs an amazing cat mom like yourself,Liv. Plus , doctors recommend it.

9. Selfcare and some TLC.

This l know you’ve been definitely waiting for and this is my favourite part of any weekly reset routine. This is exactly where that home spa is most welcome. You’re free to do it however you want. I recommend doing this in the evening but depending on your activities you can start earlier than that. It is best to do your hair wash day for my beautiful black queens.

As a black woman myself, I usually get to washday weekly or biweekly on the weekends. You can even get it professionally done and have spa day booked. Get that bubble bath you’ve putting aside and go deeply into your skin care regimen for as long as you want. Be patient and take your time.

10. Spend time on your hobbies.

Your reset day is the best time to pour yourself into your hobbies and truly live life on your terms if you have a 9-5 job. It is possible to do it on the weekdays if you want. Take up the guitar and any instrument you want to learn to play. Start the little backyard garden and tend to those flowers. Start reading again for fun, learn a new skill, learn how to make foreign delicacies and show off to your Aunt Michelle at Thanksgiving. Spend this time building the life you want to live and be at the forefront of your destiny. ( That’s enough motivation for today 😝) Just go ahead and do it guys.

Have your own weekly reset routine? I’d love to hear about it! Share your thoughts in my comments.
